Lin Dan won All England Badminton Title

Lin Dan from China has won the prestigious 2016 All England Badminton title in the men’s singles category. In the final match played on 13 March at Birmingham, England he defeated Chinese teammate Tian Houwei. It was his overall sixth All England badminton title and earlier he had won it in 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2012. Nozomi Okuhara (Japan) won the women’s singles title by defeating Wang Shixian (China).

Services Won Santosh Trophy

Services has won the 70th edition of Santosh Trophy Football Championships title 2016 by defeating hosts Maharashtra. In the final match played on 13 March at SEC Railway Stadium, Nagpur (Maharashtra), the Services defeated host team Maharashtra by 2-1 goal score. With this win, Services has retained that title and has won it for fifth time in year 1961, 2012, 2013 & 2015.

Rest of India Won Irani Cup

Rest of India on 10 March won the Irani Cup Cricket title 2015-16. In the match played in Mumbai, Rest of India defeated 41-time Ranji Champions Mumbai by four wickets.

Sachdev Won Invitational Snooker Championship

Rahul Sachdev has won the first All India Open Invitational Snooker Championship 2016 held at Aurangabad in Maharashtra. In the final match, Rahul defeated Pushpender Singh of Indian Railways by 5-3 score. India has won the 2016 Asia Cup T20 trophy for a record sixth time after beating Bangladesh by 8 wickets in the final.In the final match played at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium,Mirpur Indian team overhauled the chasing target of 121 runs set by Bangladesh by seven balls to spare. 2016 Asia Cup was played from 24 February to 6 March. ATP is an world Tour 250 series event. In 1970 to 1989, it is a part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit and a Grand Prix Super Series event (1970–71).

Sania Mirza, Martina Hingis won 2016 St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy

Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis on 14 February 2016 won the 2016 St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy in St. Petersburg, Russia.By defeating the Russian-Czech team of Vera Dushevina and Barbora Krejcikova by 6-3 6-1 in doubles final. This is 13th title and 4th in 2016. earlier 2016, the pair won Australian Open, Apia International Sydney title and Brisbane Tennis trophy.

West Indies won ICC U19 Cricket World Cup

The West Indies on 14 February 2016 won Under-19 Cricket World Cup title by defeating three time champions India by five wickets. played at Mirpur, It was the first major title for the West Indies from 2012. West Indies’ Keacy Carty was Man of the Match and Mehidy Hasan Miraz from Bangladesh was declared as the Player of the Tournament. Shane Watson became the most expensive player in the 2016 Indian Premier League(IPL) auction when Royal Challengers Bangalore snapped him up for Rs 9.5 Crore. Pawan Negi continued to have a golden period as he became the most expensive Indian player at Rs 8.5 Crore. Yuvraj Singh, with Rs 7 Crore, Mohit Sharma with Rs 6.5 Crore and Ashish Nehra with 5.5 Crore.

Kerala won the 61st National School Athletics Championship

Kerala has won the 61st National School Athletics championship which concluded in Kozhikode on 2 February 2016. This is for the 19th consecutive time Kerala becomes the champions in the event. Tamil Nadu came second. Kerala, the host of the championship got 306 points winning 39 gold, 29 silver and 17 bronze medals. Tamil Nadu, who came second, got 116 points winning 11 gold, 8 silver and 13 bronze medals. Maharashtra with 101 points gained the third position. Kerala won 10 meet records out of 20 records which were reported in the meet.
